People say Fleischer was ahead of his time. He still is. And I suppose the cartoons are more for adults than for children, but am tempted by the argument that work purely for children is mostly anodyne. The thrill of not quite understanding is an enticement to many children.Fleischer is also non-Pc. He is a touch prurient, a bit of a barroom bravo, but the sheer brilliance is worth any amount of petty offence.
