Reading them again, those first three paragraphs are just superb, with their rhythm and depth. You are a master of English prose, sir. And it's nice that you are generous with it.
Stevens was a great favourite of the priestly poet R S Thomas. There's a lot of RST/WS scree on my blog. I second you, notesfromaroom! You put it very well. It's what we all think.
